Fermoy Estate has a rich history, established in 1985 from the humble dream of John Anderson to make beautiful handcrafted wines. These wines quickly built a reputation for their exceptional quality, elegance and distinction.
Fermoy’s wines developed such a reputation for its amazing quality that in 2004 Fermoy Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was the only Western Australian wine served during the Official reception for the royal wedding of Crown Prince Fredrick of Denmark and Mary Donaldson. This winery continuously proves itself as one of the finest producers in the Margaret River Wine Region.
Another story in Fermoy’s history draws to a close, whilst another exciting chapter begins as they announce the appointment of new Senior Winemaker Jeremy Hodgson effective January 2015. This appointment follows the recent decision of current Senior Winemaker Liz Dawson to resign with the impending birth of her second child. Liz has served as Fermoy’s Senior Winemaker for almost a decade.
“Whilst we are obviously sad to say goodbye to Liz, we understand her desire to focus on her family, and we are extremely grateful for the wonderful effort and contribution that Liz has made to Fermoy over a ten year period”, said General Manager, Cameron Rhodes. “Liz has played an instrumental role in building the reputation of Fermoy for producing the highest quality wines and has achieved many awards and accolades for Fermoy during her time with us.”
“However, as one chapter closes another begins and we are absolutely delighted to have Jeremy Hodgson join the team as Senior Winemaker”, Cameron Rhodes said. “We believe Jeremy has the experience, passion, enthusiasm and ambition to succeed, that will see Fermoy even further establish itself as one of Margaret River’s highest regarded wineries.”
Jeremy Hodgson is currently a Winemaker for Wise Wines and Cherubino Consultancy, producing a diverse range of premium wines for multiple clients. He has been involved in the industry since 2005, after completing his Bachelor of Science in Oenology and Viticulture with first class honours. His previous experience includes winemaking roles at Plantagenet, Houghton and Goundrey Wines.
Commenting on his appointment with Fermoy, Jeremy said “I am very excited to be joining such a premium winery as Fermoy. With its ideal location, premium fruit and commitment to quality, I feel confident that I can further establish Fermoy’s wines as some of the best wines produced from Western Australia”.
