2019 Cabernet Merlot

$30

Vintage: 2019 - a cooler vintage, but a warm & dry period in March-April provided perfect conditions for red grape ripening.

Varietals: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon; 21% Merlot; 1% Shiraz

Appearance: Bright crimson red.

Aroma: Blackcurrant, plum and mulberry fruits lead into savoury notes of black olive tapenade and bay leaf.

Palate: The medium-weighted palate unfolds in layers of fruit, savoury herbs, dark chocolate, and subtle oak spice. A soft and juicy mid-palate is supported by a framework of powder fine tannins which add structure and length.

Oak Detail: 18 months maturation in a combination of 15% new and 85% seasoned French oak barriques from a selection of renowned Bordeaux cooperages.

Cellaring: This finely structured wine is drinking well now, but will continue to evolve over the next 5-6 years.

Food Pairing:A perfect Friday night pizza or pasta wine.

Alcohol Volume: 14.0%
Acidity: pH 3.7; TA 5.75 g/L

Residual Sugar: 0.9 g/L

AwardsReviews:

94pts: "78/21/1% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/shiraz. Matured for 18 months in French oak (15% new). If Fermoy isn't edging onto your radar, you need to perk up. The wines have refreshed packaging, which reiterates the value found inside the bottles. This is very smart. Succulent, pure fruit is shaped by fine, chalky tannins that help the flavour sail over the palate and off into the distance. Really impressive for the price, it looks the part too. Drink by 2031".
